DIY home decor for your wall

22 Jun

Found this great home decor post to add a little character to your home. The tutorial is from jenloveskev.com and the full explanation is there.
But just by looking at it I can think of a million possibilities, you could put sweet phrases, your last name or even shapes like pretty hearts or stars. Stars would look adorable in a kids room 😉

studded head-band

Making this head-band is simple and it looks great with so many outfits. It can be another studded accessory or something to give your outfit a little edge 😉
You can make this headband with what ever studs you choose I made one with pyramids and one with spikes. The pyramid one looks really cute but needed a little more work and the studs fell out a couple of times 😦 The spike one was a lot easier and the studs always staid in place.
you will need
* A head band (I used my favorite goodie head-bands in black)
* studs
* flat or round pliers (I prefer the flat ones)

how to

1) place the head band inside the stud 2) fold the “teeth” into the head band overlapping them onto each other

3) continue this process until at least half of the head band is full.
4) pull the head band to check for any loose studs and fix them if they need tightening
5) Enjoy your head band and rock it around town 😉

1. Supplies: 3 yards of elastic (ours was 1 inch wide), suspender clips, sewing machine. 2. Once you’ve made the correct measurements, simply attach the clips by putting the elastic through the hook so that the front of the clip isn’t on the same side as the end of elastic. Sew a straight line across the layers of elastic to secure the hook. Once you have clips on all four ends, you’re ready to to sew them together! 3. Layer them in an X form with back ends having about 5 inches of elastic. You’ll want the X to be longer in height than in width so that the suspenders aren’t too wide. Think of it as it could fit into the corners of a rectangle verses a square. Once it’s layered correctly, sew it together by topstitching a diamond shape through both layers.
The also have a few other great tutorials, a great one on how to make a bow tie and a great romantic painting.
